ASTM A36 is the most commonly used mild and hot rolled steel. It has excellent welding properties and is suitable for grinding, punching, tapping, drilling and machining processes. About
This alloy is generally used for "commercial quality" cold rolled steel sheet. It is known for its very good formability and comparatively high strength. It has a very good surface finish that is far superior to hot rolled A36. 1008 Steel is an economical, general purpose steel grade offering moderate strength and toughness. As a standard grade, 1008 steel is used in many common, low stress applications.
Both ASTM A36 carbon steel and SAE AISI 1020 steel are iron alloys. Their average alloy composition is basically identical. There are 31 material properties with values for both materials.
A36 steel is a very low carbon steel that blends great strength with form ability. It can be safely welded with minimum caution. This structural steel plate can be galvanized to give enhanced corrosion resistance which ensures superior quality.

Nov 14, 2017 · A36 is a low carbon steel. Low carbon steels are classified by having less than 0.3% carbon by weight. This allows A36 steel to be easily machined, welded, and formed, making it extremely useful as a general purpose steel. The low carbon also prevents heat treatment from having much of an effect on A36 steel.
AR400 is a specialty steel designed at the chemical level for improved wear resistance for very specific applications. The steel is relatively expensive to produce, costing much more than simple mild steels such as A36 or 1018. However, the steel's special properties make it the only choice for applications such as blades in bulldozers.
