S355J2C+N. Hot rolled structural steel. The letter S (S = Structural), followed by a number which indicates the yield strength (in this case 355). J2 indicates the minimum impact strength of 27 Joules (J) at a test temperature of 20°C. N indicates a normalized rolling condition.

Aug 23, 2015 · S355 is named based on it's minimum yield strength of 355 Mpa (N/mm2), However the yield strength reduces when you go up in thickness above 16 mm for flat products & hollow sections. Here is the table showing reduction in yield strength based on thickness. Up to 16 mm 355 Mpa. 16 mm < t 40 mm 345 Mpa.
